Just like a doctor, a designer always bears personal responsibility before his client. He/she is to commit to quality and virtuosity in doing the job. Whether a speech therapist (‘logoped’ in Russian) busy with language lessons or a designer working on a graphical or compositional expressiveness, a good specialist, be it a doctor or a designer, is to strive for making the patient pronounce words with as much clarity as to make each sound brought in by letters on paper come out with utmost distinction, make words sound properly and sentences measured with the right intonation. A designer that sees his profession as an art will often remind an intensive therapy doctor for with the logo he develops he will give a new life to the company or the goods when he breathes a soul into them and makes them speak with a new language.
Diction and trademark are much alike in the roles they play.
¤ Just like a good diction, expressiveness, both graphical and compositional, of a logo lets you get your message across with ease and with no ambiguity.
¤ Just like a clear diction, the pithiness of a logo helps memorize the facts and information that are to be passed on.
¤ Just like a correct diction, a bright and genuine symbol-based image holds the people’s attention and stimulates an interest in the conversation.
Just like a good logotype always identifies the product that it stands behind, a controlled diction speaks volumes of the level of education and culture of the one that talks.
In amalgamating all the aspects of the professions into one whole – namely, logos (Gr. speech ) – the author goes further in his experiments by committing to not only having a clear but perhaps unparticular diction but also dressing it up with uniqueness and exclusiveness. This speech is one that does not retorts back as echoes but one that penetrates deep into the mind of the audience. It is a speech that is to be recognized instantly by the intonation, the ungraspable accent and by the special voice pitch that it has.
It is on the approach of the designer (or indeed a doctor) to his work, on the originality of his mindset and on the innovative technologies used by him that you depend if you wish to be noticed, heard and understood.
